Yes, that's right! rUNdead, Charleston’s premier zombie race, is back from the dead! With the demise of Skinful Charleston and the Charleston Zombie Walk, and the temporary closure of Boone Hall’s Fright Nights/Running Scared Zombie 5K, the lack of creepy-crawlies was overwhelming! So we decided: it's time to open a few vials of TS-19, and create a new quarantine zone.
This time, no one's safe. rUNdead Charleston 2016 is Saturday, November 12, from 10am - 4pm, and features:
This is a 5k like no other! To come out alive, it's all about speed, agility, and being VERY aware of your surroundings. To have an absolute blast, you don't even have to run!
Runners start the race with a certain number of flags (think flag fooball). Their goal is to make it to the finish line as fast as possible and still have flags remaining. Lose your flags, and you're part of the infected.
Zombies are scattered throughout the course and try and take the flags from the runners. There are slow, barely moving zombies and fast, sprinter zombies.
Spectators are free to watch the carnage, listen to music, play corn hole and beer pong, bring their kids to the KidZ Quarantine or just eat from the food trucks and drink some beer.
We are once again going to be a food drive for the Lowcountry Food Bank and we are raising money for Lowcountry Helping Hands, a portion of proceeds will go to helping lowcountry individuals in need.
Are you ready to chase or be chased? Or just watch? A zombie apocalypse 5k is pretty much an awesome time, no matter what you're doing there!
